Description: |
Photographers and models need to be aware of industry norms,
rules, and laws, but the internet is crammed with opinions,
ideas, and advice that is not necessarily correct. To add to the
confusion, model releases are governed by state law, while 2257
and IRS rules are Federal. In this workshop, we will discuss
model releases in general, and then the issues of underage
models, identification, and reasonableness. Next, we will cover
IRS law pertaining to model payment, recordkeeping, and
reporting requirements. Finally, we will cover the new Federal
paperwork associated with what is commonly called “2257”.
Attention to these details can save photographers and models
money and time, and help develop a professional image with
peers. Attendees will leave this workshop with a packet of
examples of both good and bad practices, and a solid foundation
of knowledge. This workshop is open and suggested for both
models and photographers.
